The Anaheim Ducks ended a three-game losing streak with a 3-2 overtime win against the Utah Mammoth at Honda Center on Monday. Troy Terry tied the game with five seconds left in regulation, and Olen Zellweger scored the winning goal at 1:50 of overtime.
Zellweger’s goal came after a 3-on-2 break, following Terry’s tying goal on a rebound from Cutter Gauthier’s shot. The Ducks had pulled goaltender Lukas Dostal for an extra skater to force overtime.
Jackson LaCombe also contributed to Anaheim’s victory with his first goal of the season, assisted by Ryan Strome. Dostal made 16 saves for the Ducks, who improved their record to 12-6-1 after previously losing three consecutive games.
For the Mammoth, Dylan Guenther and Logan Cooley each scored, while Karel Vejmelka stopped 23 shots. Utah has now lost five of its last six games.
Cooley put Utah ahead 2-1 midway through the third period with a one-timer set up by Mikhail Sergachev. Earlier in the game, LaCombe gave Anaheim an early lead in the first period before Guenther tied it late in the second.
Utah struggled offensively early on and did not register its first shot until nearly twelve minutes into the game during a power play.
The Ducks will look to build on this win as they continue their season.
