The Anaheim Ducks have recalled goaltender Vyacheslav Buteyets from the San Diego Gulls, their main development team in the American Hockey League. This move comes as Anaheim places goaltender Lukas Dostal on Injured Reserve.
Buteyets, 23, has played ten games this season split between San Diego and the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL. With the Gulls, he holds a 1-2-0 record, a goals-against average of 3.72, and a save percentage of .878. On November 26, he secured his first career AHL win by stopping 39 of 42 shots against Tucson. Since his AHL debut on December 28, 2024, Buteyets has appeared in five career games with San Diego.
The goaltender started this season with Tulsa in the ECHL where he posted a 4-3-0 record along with a 2.81 goals-against average and .924 save percentage over seven games. During the previous season with Tulsa, he played in 36 games, achieving a 19-13-3 record and four shutouts; his four shutouts tied him for fourth among league leaders. In postseason play, Buteyets went 2-3-0 over five Kelly Cup Playoff games.
Originally from Chelyabinsk, Russia, Buteyets made his KHL debut during the 2023-24 season with Traktor Chelyabinsk. The Ducks selected him in the sixth round (178th overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft. He also played for Chelmet Chelyabinsk in Russia’s second division from 2021 to 2024.
