The Anaheim Ducks have signed center Ryan Poehling to a four-year contract extension. The new deal will begin with the 2026-27 NHL season and run through the 2029-30 season.

Poehling, who is 27 years old, has played in 54 games for Anaheim this season, recording seven goals and 17 assists for a total of 24 points. Of his 17 assists, 14 were primary assists. He currently co-leads the team in plus/minus rating and shorthanded assists (2), ranks second in shorthanded points (1 goal and 2 assists) and shorthanded time on ice per game (2:23), and is third on the team in both faceoffs taken (693) and faceoff wins (321).

Since entering the NHL, Poehling has appeared in 337 career games with four teams: Anaheim, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Montreal Canadiens. Over his career so far, he has tallied a total of 50 goals and 69 assists for 119 points. Poehling was acquired by Anaheim from Philadelphia along with draft picks in June of last year as part of a trade for Trevor Zegras. In his most recent full season with Philadelphia before joining Anaheim, he posted single-season career highs with 12 goals and 19 assists for a total of 31 points over 68 games.

A native of Lakeville, Minnesota, Poehling has international experience representing Team USA at two World Junior Championships—winning bronze in 2018 and silver in 2019—and was named MVP at the latter tournament after leading all skaters in goals scored. He also helped Team USA win gold at the U-18 World Championship in 2017.

Poehling was originally selected by Montreal as the twenty-fifth overall pick in the first round of the NHL Draft in 2017. He made an immediate impact by scoring a hat trick during his NHL debut with Montreal against Toronto on April 6, 2019. In addition to his NHL experience, he played parts of two seasons with Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League (AHL), where he led Laval in scoring during the shortened AHL season of 2020-21. Before turning professional, Poehling played three seasons at St. Cloud State University.
