The Anaheim Ducks will face the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, March 13, with puck drop scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The game will be broadcast on KCOP-13 and Victory+.
Despite a recent 6-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night, the Ducks remain at the top of the Pacific Division standings. Head coach Joel Quenneville said, “It’s a disappointing loss because we were trying to build off last game and we did it perfectly for the first period and a half. We had basically a game and a half where we were doing everything right, we had possession, momentum and pace.”
Defenseman Jacob Trouba commented on the team’s penalty kill struggles: “We had the lead, got into some penalty troubles, our PK wasn’t good tonight. And I think that’s kind of what cost us in the long run, so got to be better there. Can’t give them those opportunities.
“They have some high-skilled players that will make you pay and they did tonight. Their guys made good plays on the power play, and a lot of times outmuscled us in front of our net, and we can’t let that happen.”
Cutter Gauthier scored his 33rd goal of the season during Thursday’s game, setting a new career-high for himself. Seven Ducks players have already reached personal bests this season; Leo Carlsson has set new highs in goals (21), assists (31), and points (52), Jackson LaCombe has career-bests in assists (11) and points (14), while Lukas Dostal has achieved 26 wins.
John Carlson is expected to make his debut with Anaheim this weekend against either Ottawa or Montreal.
The Senators have posted a 3-1-1 record so far in March, with their only regulation loss coming against Montreal earlier this week. Drake Batherson scored twice in that defeat. Tim Stützle leads Ottawa with 30 goals, 40 assists, and 70 points overall.
Anaheim holds a road record of 14-16-2 this season while Ottawa is 14-11-5 at home. This marks the second and final regular-season meeting between these teams; Ottawa won their previous matchup in November.
