The Anaheim Ducks are set to begin a five-game road trip with a matchup against the Colorado Avalanche, aiming for their fifth consecutive win. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on Victory+ and KCOP-13.
Tonight marks a significant milestone for forward Alex Killorn, who will play his 1,000th NHL game. Reflecting on this achievement, Killorn said, “I’m really fortunate, honestly, to be in this situation. It’s pretty special and I’m fortunate, for sure … I haven’t really taken it all in just yet. I think once I get through this game tonight I think it’ll become more real.”
Earlier today, the Ducks announced that defenseman Jackson LaCombe has been selected for Team USA’s roster at the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. LaCombe is now the sixth current Duck to represent Team USA at a Winter Olympic Games. Head coach Joel Quenneville called the selection a “tremendous honor” for LaCombe. LaCombe described his inclusion as a “dream come true,” adding: “I think you kind of just get a better understanding of what it’s going to feel like, what it looks like, and what the other teams look like. I got to play with some of those guys on the team over there too, so that made it even more fun.”
The Avalanche currently lead the Central Division and hold the best record in the league with only one home loss this season. They are coming off a recent 5-2 victory over Washington.
Coach Quenneville acknowledged that facing Colorado would be challenging: “They lead the league in goals (and) rush chances,” he said. “We’ve got to be aware of who’s on the ice but then again, there’s a lot of guys you’ve got to worry about tonight.” Among them is Nathan MacKinnon, who scored twice and added an assist against Washington; MacKinnon leads the NHL with 38 goals and shares first place in points (85).
With their recent winning streak, Anaheim has moved up to third place in the Pacific Division behind Vegas and Edmonton.
Following tonight’s contest in Colorado, Anaheim will face six divisional opponents before heading into the Olympic break.
