Morgan Frost scored two goals as the Calgary Flames won 5-3 against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on April 5. The victory ended a two-game losing streak for the Flames, while extending the Ducks’ skid to five games.
The game was significant for both teams, with Calgary seeking to recover from recent heavy losses and Anaheim attempting to halt its downward trend late in the season.
Joel Farabee and Matvei Gridin each contributed a goal and an assist for Calgary. Ryan Strome, who was traded from Anaheim to Calgary in March, also scored. Kevin Bahl added two assists, and goaltender Devin Cooley made 36 saves for the Flames. For Anaheim, Beckett Sennecke opened scoring in the first period after catching a stretch pass from Jackson LaCombe and converting his own rebound. Leo Carlsson and Mason McTavish also found the net for the Ducks, with Ville Husso making 15 saves in goal.
After Sennecke’s opening goal put Anaheim ahead early, Farabee tied it later in the first period on a breakaway set up by Gridin. Strome gave Calgary its first lead early in the second period before Gridin extended it during a short-handed rush. Frost added his first of two goals late in that period with a breakaway wrist shot.
Anaheim attempted a comeback with third-period goals by Carlsson and McTavish—McTavish’s coming on a power play—but Frost sealed Calgary’s win with an empty-netter late in regulation.
Both teams continue their seasons looking to build momentum as they approach their final games.
