Mikael Granlund scored two goals and John Carlson recorded three assists as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Vancouver Canucks 5-3 at Rogers Arena on March 25. The win marks the third consecutive victory for the Ducks, who have now extended their point streak to five games.
The result is significant as it increases Anaheim’s first-place lead in the Pacific Division to five points over the Edmonton Oilers and six over the Vegas Golden Knights. Mason McTavish broke a tie early in the third period, while Alex Killorn contributed a goal and an assist. Leo Carlsson and Chris Kreider each had two assists, with Lukas Dostal making 27 saves for Anaheim.
For Vancouver, Brock Boeser and Jake DeBrusk found the net, while Filip Hronek and Elias Pettersson each tallied two assists. The Canucks have now lost three straight games and thirteen of their last sixteen. Kevin Lankinen made 29 saves in goal for Vancouver.
McTavish gave Anaheim a crucial lead at 5:45 of the third period with his first goal in fifteen games after receiving a return pass from Jackson LaCombe. Troy Terry sealed the win by scoring into an empty net with five seconds left on the clock.
DeBrusk opened scoring for Vancouver on a power play early in the first period, but Killorn tied it up midway through the second after being set up by Carlson. Granlund then put Anaheim ahead twice more—once off a rebound during a power play—and Boeser managed to equalize briefly before McTavish’s decisive strike.
