Connor McDavid scored a goal and provided two assists as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-2 at Rogers Place on March 28. The victory marked Edmonton’s third consecutive win, a feat they have achieved only once before this season.
The result is significant for the Pacific Division standings, with Edmonton now just three points behind Anaheim for first place. However, Anaheim still holds a game in hand over their rivals.
Zach Hyman contributed a goal and an assist for the Oilers, while Matt Savoie scored in his third straight game. Evan Bouchard recorded two assists, and Connor Ingram made 27 saves to help secure the win.
For the Ducks, Cutter Gauthier and Beckett Sennecke each found the net, and John Carlson tallied two assists. Lukas Dostal stopped 30 shots in goal. The loss ended Anaheim’s four-game winning streak during which they had earned points in six straight games.
The Oilers took control of the game during a strong second period when McDavid opened scoring after redirecting a puck past Dostal. Jack Roslovic extended Edmonton’s lead early in the third period before Savoie added another goal shortly after. Although Sennecke and Gauthier responded with goals for Anaheim to narrow the gap, Hyman sealed the victory with an empty-netter assisted by McDavid.
