U.S. Representative Young Kim has introduced a resolution with the California Republican delegation to formally condemn the riots in Los Angeles. The resolution, as reported by Fox News, aims to address recent violence and express support for law enforcement.
The proposed resolution from the House of Representatives recognizes the right to peaceful assembly and protest while condemning violence against law enforcement at all levels. It calls for cooperation between local, state, and federal leaders to end violent riots and restore peace. Additionally, it expresses gratitude to law enforcement officers for their efforts in maintaining public safety.
Congresswoman Young Kim stated, “Peaceful protests are a constitutional right, but vandalism, looting, violence, and other crimes are not. Protecting public safety shouldn’t be controversial.” She urged collaboration between Governor Newsom and President Trump to quell the unrest and ensure community safety.
Kim further criticized California’s policies by saying, “Let’s be clear: the riots escalated before the National Guard was sent in and were enabled by California’s soft-on-crime policies – peddled for years by Governor Newsom, Sacramento, and local prosecutors – that have allowed for lawlessness and endangered public safety of hardworking Californians.”
Joining Congresswoman Kim in introducing the resolution are California Republican Representatives Ken Calvert (CA-41), Vince Fong (CA-20), Darrell Issa (CA-48), Kevin Kiley (CA-03), Doug LaMalfa (CA-01), Tom McClintock (CA-05), Jay Obernolte (CA-23), and David Valadao (CA-22).
