U.S. Representative Young Kim, who represents California’s 40th district in Congress, voted in favor of the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act. In a statement released from Washington, D.C., Rep. Kim addressed her support for the legislation.
“Washington’s one-size-fits-all health care system is broken, and hardworking families are paying the price,” said Rep. Young Kim. “After years of skyrocketing premiums and fewer choices under failed Democratic policies, Republicans are taking a proactive step to fix what isn’t working. This legislation lowers premiums, increases transparency, and puts patients and families first.”
She further stated, “Small businesses are the backbone of our communities, yet too many have been squeezed out of affordable coverage. By expanding choice, cracking down on hidden costs, and empowering employers and workers, we can drive down prices and give families more control over their health care decisions.”
The proposed legislation aims to reduce health insurance premiums for Americans while expanding affordable options for small businesses and workers. It also seeks to improve transparency in prescription drug pricing.
Rep. Kim has represented California’s 40th district since 2021 after replacing Gil Cisneros. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently resides in La Habra.
Kim earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1985.
