Jason Robertson recorded two goals and an assist as the Dallas Stars defeated the Anaheim Ducks 8-3 at Honda Center on Friday. The win marked the third consecutive victory for the Stars, who improved their record to 24-7-5 after also beating the San Jose Sharks earlier in the week.
Roope Hintz and Thomas Harley each contributed a goal and an assist, while Mikko Rantanen, Radek Faksa, and Miro Heiskanen added two assists apiece. Goaltender Casey DeSmith made 23 saves for Dallas.
For Anaheim, Ryan Poehling, Beckett Sennecke, and Mikael Granlund scored. The Ducks have now lost four of their last five games, bringing their record to 20-13-2.
Lukas Dostal started in goal for Anaheim but was replaced by Petr Mrazek after allowing four goals on seven shots. Mrazek finished with 14 saves.
The scoring began early when Radek Faksa stole the puck from Ducks defenseman Jacob Trouba below the Anaheim goal line during a shorthanded situation and set up Oskar Back for a one-timer that gave Dallas a 1-0 lead at 2:37 of the first period. Poehling tied it less than a minute later with a rebound goal.
Hintz restored Dallas’s lead with a wrist shot from the high slot at 4:42. Sam Steel extended it to 3-1 at 12:41 after driving to the net; despite a collision that dislodged the posts just before the puck crossed the line, video review upheld the goal.
Harley’s wrist shot ended Dostal’s night at 14:19 of the first period, making it 4-1. In the second period, Robertson scored from in front of the crease on a power play for a 5-1 advantage and added another with a backhand finish at 15:10. Adam Erne returned from injury to score his first goal in eighteen games late in the second period.
Sennecke scored early in the third for Anaheim before Ilya Lyubushkin responded quickly for Dallas. Granlund closed out scoring with Anaheim’s third goal midway through the final frame.
