Linus Ullmark made 23 saves for the Ottawa Senators in a 2-0 victory over the Anaheim Ducks at Canadian Tire Centre on March 14. The win marked Ullmark’s second shutout of the season and his first since December, improving his record to 10-1-3 in his last 15 starts.
The game was significant as it kept the Senators’ strong momentum going, with the team now holding a 6-1-2 record over their past nine games. Ottawa will finish its three-game homestand against the San Jose Sharks on Sunday.
Thomas Chabot scored a short-handed goal and Shane Pinto contributed two assists for Ottawa, which improved to a season record of 33-23-9. Michael Amadio opened scoring early in the second period after receiving a pass from Pinto during a two-on-one rush, beating Anaheim goaltender Ville Husso from the right face-off circle. Chabot extended the lead later in the period with a wrist shot following another setup by Pinto during a penalty kill.
Anaheim’s offense was limited throughout much of the game, managing only twelve shots through two periods. The Ducks have now lost two out of three games on their current four-game road trip, which concludes against Montreal on Sunday. Husso finished with 27 saves for Anaheim, whose record stands at 36-24-3.
A key moment came when Anaheim challenged Chabot’s goal for goalie interference, but video review upheld that Tim Stutzle’s incidental contact did not affect Husso’s ability to play his position before the puck crossed the line. Later in the third period, Stutzle appeared to extend his point streak to fifteen games but had his goal disallowed due to goalie interference after he fell into Husso while scoring.
The result highlights Ottawa’s recent defensive strength and sets up an important matchup as they continue their push late in the season.
