Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, addressed several policy issues in a series of posts on January 14, 2026. The topics included government accountability for pandemic-era fraud, the importance of securing critical minerals supply chains, and support for legislation to prevent insider trading in Congress.
In her first post at 18:27 UTC, Kim wrote: “We must leverage technology to improve government & crack down on fraud. I fought for accountability for COVID-era program fraud under the Biden Administration. Now, thanks to @SBA_Kelly, the SBA is finally cleaning up its act & criminals are being held accountable.”
Later that day at 20:11 UTC, she commented on national security and resource independence: “If we want to control our critical minerals supply chain, we need to strengthen every link—so China can never break it. I’m fighting to take back our supply chains & unleash America’s energy future. More in @POLITICO.”
At 21:56 UTC, Kim discussed ethics in Congress and voiced support for proposed legislation targeting insider trading by lawmakers: “Service in Congress was never meant to be used as a hedge fund. I’m supporting the Stop Insider Trading Act to drain the swamp, end self-dealing in Congress, & remind career politicians that their job is to serve the People—not their portfolios.”
Kim has served as a member of Congress since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
