Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, addressed economic issues affecting Californians in a series of posts on December 2 and 3, 2025.
On December 2, Kim commented on gas prices in California compared to the national average, stating, “Gas is ~$3 nationwide. In California? $4.54. Families can’t keep paying the price for Newsom’s failed policies. I’ll keep fighting to combat Sacramento’s cost-driving mandates at the federal level so Californians receive real relief.”
In a subsequent post on December 3, she discussed financial literacy and recent private sector investment, writing, “Financial literacy opens doors. Michael Dell’s $6.25B commitment to expand Trump Accounts will give millions of Americans the keys to unlock financial stability. This is what investing in the American Dream looks like.”
Later that day, Kim referenced new federal legislation impacting tax policy for California families: “Thanks to @POTUS’s One Big Beautiful Bill, California families will feel real relief this tax season. Proud to have fought to increase the SALT cap x4 & meet the needs of over 95% of families in my district. I’ll always fight for affordability first.”
Kim has represented California’s 40th District in Congress since 2021 after previously serving in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently resides in La Habra. Kim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
