Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, addressed government funding and constituent services in a series of posts on September 29 and 30, 2025.
On September 29, Kim criticized congressional leadership regarding the risk of a government shutdown, stating: “Hardworking families shouldn’t shoulder the cost of Washington’s dysfunction. I voted to keep the government open & accountable to the American people. Chuck Schumer walked away & is determined to shut down the government. I urge my colleagues to stop playing games, set”.
The following day, she announced upcoming outreach efforts for her constituents: “TOMORROW: My office will be holding Chino Hills mobile office hours at the community center. Please come with questions about federal agencies, casework, or how my team can assist you. We are here to serve you always.” (September 30).
Later that day, Kim highlighted concerns over essential workers during potential funding lapses: “TSA agents at our airports. Firefighters in Cleveland National Forest. Active-duty military based right here in Southern California. These are the heroes who keep our country safe & secure each day. A government shutdown forces them to work without pay. We can’t let them down.” (September 30).
Kim has represented California’s 40th district since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
