Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, used her social media platform on April 1, 2026, to address issues related to national security funding, government spending in California, and congressional stock trading.
In a post published at midnight, Kim stated: “This is not the time to play games with our security. Our Department of Homeland Security needs to be fully funded, immediately. No more excuses.” (April 1, 2026).
Later that day at 4 p.m., she criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom’s fiscal management and reaffirmed her own legislative priorities: “While Newsom proves ineffective at everything except finding creative new ways to waste taxpayer dollars, I’m fighting to crack down on fraud & help families keep more of what they earn. I’ll keep working to improve the lives of Californians & never back down from putting our” (April 1, 2026).
At 6 p.m., Kim commented on the issue of stock trading by members of Congress: “If someone wants to trade stocks, they should go to Wall Street—not Washington. Members of Congress should be focused on the American People. I’ve supported multiple bills banning congressional stock trading & will keep working night & day to ensure Congress works for YOU.” (April 1, 2026).
Kim has represented California’s 40th district in the U.S. House since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently resides in La Habra. Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1985.
