Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, addressed national security, state taxation, and federal government operations in a series of posts on October 30, 2025.
In her first post, Kim commented on the United States’ role in the Indo-Pacific region. She wrote on October 30: “When America shows up as a partner of choice in the Indo-Pacific, we win. @POTUS’s historic new deals are strengthening our nuclear capabilities, securing our most sensitive defense supply chains, & putting America on a record winning streak.”
Later that day, Kim criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom’s tax policies and highlighted her own legislative efforts regarding the State & Local Tax (SALT) deduction. On October 30 she posted: “Californians face some of the highest taxes in the nation, & Gavin Newsom is making things worse. I fought to raise the cap on the State & Local Tax (SALT) deduction by 300% and put hard-earned money back in families’ pockets—so they can better afford gas, groceries, & housing.”
In a third message that same day, Kim addressed recent debates over government funding and shutdowns. She stated: “Despite what @SenSchumer might think, the American people cannot be fooled. They know that Republicans voted to keep the government open—& Washington Democrats are keeping it closed.”
Kim has represented California’s 40th District since defeating Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
