Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, posted several messages on her social media account in early September 2025 addressing labor rights, historical remembrance, and human rights advocacy.
On September 1, 2025, Kim wrote: “I am honored to fight for a country that values hard work & I will keep fighting for pro-worker policies that keep the American Dream alive. #HappyLaborDay”.
The following day, she marked the anniversary of the end of World War II with a post commemorating veterans: “#OTD in 1945, WWII came to a close with the signing of Japan’s surrender. We remember the bravery of the Greatest Generation & recommit to serving our veterans & preserving the peace they fought to secure. #VJDay “ (September 2, 2025).
Later on September 2, Kim addressed human rights concerns related to China’s treatment of Uyghurs and referenced her legislative efforts: “The Uyghur people have been imprisoned, tortured, & brainwashed at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party. I spoke on the House floor in favor of my Uyghur Policy Act — so we can show through words & actions that we stand against the CCP’s heinous crimes.”
Kim has represented California’s 40th district in Congress since 2021 after replacing Gil Cisneros and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently resides in La Habra. Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1985.
