Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, recently shared a series of posts on her official Twitter account addressing topics ranging from honoring military service to calling for accountability in government spending and highlighting preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
On December 7, 2025, Kim reflected on the legacy of Major McClung, stating: “Major McClung’s service & sacrifice continue to inspire us all. I have been so honored to work with her family & ensure our Mission Viejo post office proudly bears her name. Her legacy will never be forgotten.”
The following day, she commented on a high-profile fraud case in Minnesota involving public funds: “The verdict is in: $1 billion taxpayer dollars stolen in Minnesota. Where was Gov. Walz? Shameful & unacceptable. Americans deserve accountability for their hard-earned dollars — not excuses & cover-ups.” This statement came after reports that significant sums had been misappropriated from federal programs intended to assist those in need.
Later on December 8, Kim addressed preparations for the FIFA World Cup and praised efforts to streamline visa processing for athletes and participants: “The World Cup is a world-class opportunity to showcase the very best of Southern California. Thank you @POTUS & @SecRubio for kicking off the FIFA PASS to fast-track secure visa processing & ensure the focus remains on our exceptional athletes, not bureaucratic backlogs.”
Kim has represented California’s 40th district since defeating Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and now residing in La Habra, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1985.
