Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, posted a series of statements on her official Twitter account addressing tax policy, cost of living in California, and efforts to combat fraud.
On March 19, 2026, Kim wrote: “Hard work should be rewarded, NOT taxed to death. The Working Families Tax Cut does exactly that by eliminating taxes on tips and overtime. We are getting Washington out of the way so working Americans keep more of what they own & build their dream.”
The following day, she addressed affordability issues in her home state: “Just living in California shouldn’t be a luxury. I’m fighting in Congress to bring down costs, cut red tape, & reverse the effects of Sacramento’s costly mandates because hardworking Californians should be able to afford to live, thrive and build their American Dream.”
Later on March 20, Kim criticized Governor Gavin Newsom and discussed anti-fraud legislation: “Gavin Newsom is the King of Fraud. I’m leading the No More SCAMS Act to codify @POTUS’s fraud task force & ensure it remains for future administrations. We must combat the fraud we have seen in California & across the country & make sure fraudsters never has a safe haven again.”
Kim has represented California’s 40th congressional district since 2021 after replacing Gil Cisneros. She previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
