Young Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 40th district since 2021, shared her views on recent legislative developments via social media. Her posts focused on tax policies affecting middle-class Americans and small businesses.
On July 3, 2025, Young Kim expressed concerns about the financial burdens faced by middle-class Americans, working families, and small businesses due to “high taxes, rising prices, & skyrocketing living costs.” She attributed these challenges to “out-of-touch policies from Washington & Sacramento,” emphasizing that “Today’s vote helps get us on the right track.”
In a subsequent post on the same day, Kim detailed a bill aimed at extending middle-class tax cuts. She highlighted that without this extension, CA-40 families would face an average 17 percent tax hike. She noted that “an average family of four in our community would see a $3,930 tax hike,” equating this increase to three months’ worth of groceries.
Additionally, Kim addressed the issue of double taxation for Californians. She stated her efforts to “QUADRUPLE the SALT cap from $10k to $40k for working Americans & families making less than $500k per year” and to eliminate it for certain small businesses.
Young Kim has served in Congress since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, she graduated with a BBA from the University of Southern California in 1985.
