Young Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 40th district, has been vocal about her efforts to address taxation and affordability issues in her state. Her recent tweets highlight her initiatives and engagements with the community.

On July 8, 2025, Young Kim addressed the issue of double taxation faced by Californians. She stated, “Californians have faced double taxation for too long. That’s why I fought to QUADRUPLE the SALT cap to $40,000 — saving you more of your hard-earned money.” Kim emphasized the high cost of living in California and her commitment to protecting her constituents’ finances.

Later that day, she highlighted a potential tax increase affecting families in California’s 40th district. In her tweet from July 8, 2025, she noted that “CA-40 families were at risk of a 17% TAX HIKE — $3,930 equal to 19 WEEKS of groceries for a typical family of four in our community.” She expressed her support for extending tax cuts for the middle class as part of her ongoing efforts to make life more affordable.

On July 9, 2025, Kim expressed gratitude towards local firefighters through social media. She tweeted “Thank you to @AnaheimFire for hosting Anaheim Ops 101 to teach the community more about your important work!” This acknowledgment highlights the essential role firefighters play in ensuring community safety.

Young Kim has served in Congress since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021. Before this role, she was a member of the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
