Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, posted a series of statements on her social media account in August 2025 addressing terrorism, global supply chains, and religious freedom.

On August 21, 2025, Kim wrote: “Today, we remember victims of terrorism & the atrocities of terrorism. Freedom cannot be taken for granted. We must continue our work to hold terrorists – & the authoritarian regimes funding them – accountable.”

Later that day, she commented on international economic security and China’s role in critical minerals: “China’s chokehold on critical minerals has been a sucker punch to U.S. industries & a wake-up call to Washington. I am committed to working with our allies to protect our economy & national security & build resilient supply chains that Xi Jinping can’t lay a finger on.” This statement comes amid ongoing debates about the United States’ reliance on foreign sources for essential materials used in technology and manufacturing.

On August 22, 2025, Kim addressed violence based on religion or belief: “No one should live in fear because of their faith. Today, we honor victims of acts of violence based on religion or belief. From rising antisemitism to Uyghur genocide, we always must stand up for those who have been silenced & continue our fight for religious freedom around”

Kim has represented California’s 40th district in Congress since 2021 after replacing Gil Cisneros and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1985.
