Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, posted a series of messages on her social media accounts in early March 2026 addressing issues ranging from federal employee pay to veterans’ affairs and border security.
On March 9, Kim commented on the impact of the ongoing government shutdown on Transportation Security Administration employees, stating: “Our TSA officers protect our skies & keep millions of Americans safe each day. They shouldn’t have to work without pay. @SenSchumer already did this song & dance in October. Democrats must end the shutdown and pass DHS funding ASAP!”
The following day, March 10, Kim discussed her meeting with local veterans regarding the Orange County Veterans Cemetery project: “Our brave heroes deserve a proper resting place, right here at home. Great talking with our Veteran Advisory Group to discuss the Orange County Veterans Cemetery & how we can get this important project across the finish line. I will always have the backs of our veterans!”
Later that same day, she addressed immigration policy and border security: “Under @POTUS’s leadership, migrant encounters at the border are at their LOWEST LEVEL since 1970. America needs strong border security, not weak open border policies that allow illegal aliens to cut the line ahead of law-abiding immigrants. As a Legal immigrant who came here”
Kim has served as California’s 40th District representative since 2021 after replacing Gil Cisneros and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently resides in La Habra. Kim earned her BBA from the University of Southern California in 1985.
