Young Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 40th district since 2021, has recently addressed several significant issues through her social media platform. Her posts emphasize international alliances, healthcare reform for seniors, and historical events affecting global perceptions of governance.
On June 4, 2025, Young Kim highlighted the significance of the U.S.-Republic of Korea alliance. She stated that “The U.S.-ROK alliance is one of our nation’s strongest & is more important than ever to work towards a shared goal of promoting peace in the Indo-Pacific region.” Kim expressed her commitment to advocating for this alliance with South Korea’s incoming Lee administration.
Later that day, on June 4, 2025, Kim addressed Medicare enrollment fees for seniors in another post. She remarked that “It makes no sense for seniors to face fees for delaying Medicare enrollment.” Highlighting the challenges faced by Americans who choose to work later in life, she announced her leadership role in introducing a bipartisan bill aimed at capping these fees and reducing costs for seniors.
In a third post on June 4, 2025, Young Kim reflected on the events surrounding Tiananmen Square. She noted that “Tiananmen Square showed the world that Chinese Communist Party leaders will do anything to maintain control.” She emphasized the importance of remembering the victims and reaffirmed her dedication to ensuring freedom prevails globally.
Young Kim was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently resides in La Habra. Before serving in Congress since 2021 after replacing Gil Cisneros, she was part of the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016.
