Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, posted a series of messages on social media between August 26 and August 27, 2025, addressing women’s equality, regulatory discussions with business leaders, and support for local entrepreneurs.
On August 26, Young Kim marked National Women’s Equality Day by acknowledging the achievements of women who contributed to securing freedoms in the United States. She wrote: “On National Women’s Equality Day, we honor the women who walked before us to secure the freedoms we hold dear. I’m humbled to build on their legacy in Congress & will keep fighting for the educational pathways & economic opportunities that empower every woman & girl to succeed.”
Later that day, she thanked Mark Uyeda for participating in a discussion with Orange County business leaders regarding Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rulemaking. In her post dated August 26, Kim stated: “Thank you @MarkUyedaUS for the insightful discussion with Orange County business leaders on SEC rulemaking. I’ll keep fighting to make sure our regulations strengthen local economies, help CA businesses thrive, & create opportunities for workers & families in our community.”
On August 27, Kim referenced her experience as a small business owner while meeting with local entrepreneurs. She said: “As a former small business owner, I know how hard it can be just to keep the lights on & doors open. Grateful to speak with local entrepreneurs about my work to secure the 199A deduction, quadruple the SALT cap, & deliver the relief they need to grow & thrive in our community.”
Young Kim has represented California’s 40th district in Congress since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra at age 60, Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1985.
