Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, shared a series of statements on her social media account on March 9, 2026, addressing topics ranging from Women’s History Month to energy policy and public safety.
In recognition of Women’s History Month, Kim posted: “Reflecting on Women’s History Month, I’m grateful to serve alongside so many strong leaders in Congress who know the heart of being mothers, daughters, wives, & friends. I am proud to represent my community as a strong fighter for protecting girls in sports & policies that make https://t.co/LwpME3mZRV” (March 9, 2026).
Later that day, Kim criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom’s energy policies and their potential impact on gas prices. She wrote: “Thanks to Newsom’s far left policies and all-out war on energy, it’s expected we could see gas prices skyrocket to as much as $8/gallon in California. Addressing concerns about public safety and civil unrest in another post the same day, Kim stated: “Chaos and violence have no place in our communities. I’m proud to support legislation to add rioting to the federal racketeering definition under RICO – giving law enforcement stronger tools to hold organized rioters accountable, protect Americans, & restore law & order.” (March 9, 2026).
Kim has represented California’s 40th district in Congress since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra at age 60, Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
