Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, reiterated her stance on government shutdowns and emphasized her efforts to support constituents in a series of posts made on October 3 and 4, 2025.
On October 3, Kim stated: “I have said it before, but it bears repeating. Government shutdowns help NO ONE. This is not the time to be playing politics & pushing agendas. Let’s get the government back open for the American people.”
Later that day, she highlighted her work returning funds to constituents: “Now more than ever, I am committed to getting results for our community. I’m proud to have helped return over $32 million back to constituents from federal agencies & will keep fighting to make sure taxpayers get what they are owed.”
On October 4, Kim addressed her voting record regarding government operations: “Fact: During the Biden administration I voted to keep the government open. Why? Because government shutdowns harm the American people—regardless of who’s in the White House. To Senate Democrats: stop putting partisanship above people. Americans deserve better.”
Kim has represented California’s 40th District since defeating Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, Kim earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1985.
