Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, has addressed several economic issues affecting families and small businesses in recent social media posts. Kim, who succeeded Gil Cisneros and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016, focused her recent communications on gas taxes, family tax credits, and support for local businesses.

On July 12, 2025, Kim criticized the state’s fuel tax policy: “California’s state gas tax is now 61.2 cents for every gallon – that adds up to too much pain at the pump for hardworking families. I continue to urge Governor Newsom to SUSPEND the CA gas tax and provide relief. Enough is enough!”

Later that day, Kim highlighted measures she supported to assist families financially: “Raising a family is expensive enough. That’s why I secured a PERMANENT Child Tax Credit of $2,200 per child & supported a pilot program to give newborns a $1,000 investment account to jumpstart their future. This will help lessen the financial burden on California families.” The post was made on July 12, 2025.

On July 13, 2025, Kim reiterated her support for small businesses: “Small businesses are the backbone of our local economies. I fought for and secured vital tax cuts for small businesses last week & will keep fighting for our CA-40 job creators.”

Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and residing in La Habra, Young Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
