Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, has recently voiced concerns on social media regarding security threats and crime in California. In a series of posts made between March 11 and March 12, 2026, Kim criticized state leadership and called for federal action on issues ranging from homeland security to organized retail crime and EBT fraud.
On March 11, Kim addressed potential threats from abroad and ongoing political disagreements in Washington: “The Iranian regime wants to target our communities here in CA. Now is not the time to play politics. Senate Democrats are keeping the Department of Homeland Security shut down when threats are imminent. We need decisive leadership & a united front to defend our homeland.”
Later that same day, she commented on public safety and theft affecting small businesses: “Newsom’s soft-on-crime leadership have left small businesses defenseless against rampant theft. Grateful for @PORACalifornia’s support of my legislation to crack down on organized retail crime. California needs law & order restored, & I intend to lead that fight in Congress.”
On March 12, Kim turned her attention to fraud within state assistance programs: “When Newsom allows EBT fraud rings to run rampant in CA, families, seniors, & veterans go hungry. CA needs real accountability to ensure these programs reach who they’re meant for. Congress should pass my No More SCAMS Act to stop the fraud & lock up these criminal scammers.”
Kim’s comments reflect her ongoing focus on public safety and fiscal responsibility at both the state and federal levels. She has previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016 before being elected to Congress.
She replaced Gil Cisneros as representative of California’s 40th district in 2021.
Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra,
Kim graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1985.
