Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, has used her social media platform to address issues related to government fraud, public safety, and small business support in California.
On December 5, 2025, Kim voiced concern about government benefit fraud and the importance of prioritizing Californians. She wrote, “Spot on @SecRollins. We must stop fraud and abuse in government and put Californians first. I am holding Newsom’s feet to the fire on SNAP fraud, & will keep fighting to ensure benefits reach our most vulnerable — not fraudsters, criminals, & illegal aliens.”
Later that day, Kim criticized Governor Gavin Newsom regarding the issuance of commercial driver’s licenses in California. In her December 5 post she stated, “Newsom allowed 17,000 commercial driver’s licenses to be illegally issued in California, inviting lawlessness & abuse to our doorstep & putting Californians in danger. I’m calling him out & demanding answers. America deserves competence, not chaos.”
Addressing economic policy on December 6, Kim highlighted her opposition to a proposed tax increase affecting small businesses. She posted: “Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. When a proposal threatened to raise taxes nearly 3% on many small businesses, I fought back — & won. The One Big Beautiful Bill protects job creators so businesses can keep hiring, grow, & thrive in Southern California.”
Kim began serving in Congress after defeating Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra at age 60, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
