Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, used her social media platform on April 29 and April 30, 2026, to criticize state leadership and promote her legislative efforts.
In a post made on April 29, Kim questioned California Governor Gavin Newsom’s stance on identification requirements: “.@CAgovernor thought you didn’t need an I.D.?”
Later that same day, she voiced opposition to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies and highlighted her own legislative proposal: “Time & time again, American have rejected far-left DEI policies pushed on them by out-of-touch politicians. My Stop DEI Act sends a clear message: Americans want fairness, not discrimination.”
On April 30, Kim criticized Governor Newsom for his spending priorities and alleged widespread fraud in the state’s hospice system: “While Newsom blows billions on his high-speed rail to nowhere, California’s hospice fraud machine is stealing hundreds of millions each year. Enough excuses, @CAgovenor. Your one-party rule has turned our state into the fraud capital of America. I introduced the No More SCAMS”
Kim replaced former Congressman Gil Cisneros in 2021 after previously serving in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra at age 60, Kim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
