Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, has recently posted a series of statements on her social media account criticizing state leadership and highlighting public safety and legislative issues.
On April 1, 2026, Kim addressed concerns about financial mismanagement in California, stating: “The fraud just keeps coming. Gavin Newsom should be ashamed. We can’t keep hemorrhaging taxpayer dollars & lighting our state and federal dollars on fire. I am fighting relentlessly to stop the fraud, hold Sacramento accountable, & put Californians first.”
The following day, she commented on the issue of commercial driver’s licenses being issued to non-citizens in California: “CA illegally issued 17,000 commercial driver’s licenses to non-citizens. This isn’t just a clerical error; it’s a dangerous public safety failure that has already taken American lives. I demanded answers from Gov. Newsom & will continue press for full accountability.” The matter of unauthorized issuance of licenses has raised questions regarding administrative oversight and public safety.
Later on April 2, Kim discussed her work with colleagues and President Biden to advance tax legislation: “I worked with my colleagues and @Potus to deliver the most pro-worker, pro-family bill through the Working Families Tax Cuts so Americans can keep more of what they earn & make life more affordable. House Democrats unanimously voted against it. Let that speak for itself.”
Kim’s recent statements reflect ongoing debates within California regarding fiscal responsibility and immigration policy enforcement. Young Kim succeeded Gil Cisneros as representative for California’s 40th District in 2021 after previously serving in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
