Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, used her social media platform on March 24 and 25, 2026, to voice criticism of state government spending and express support for local first responders.
In a post dated March 24, Kim criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom’s administration: “Newsom’s Sacramento is a BOTTOMLESS PIT. The more we feed it, the more it wastes. We don’t need higher taxes, more spending, or a bigger budget. We need to get the basics right & restore accountability now.”
Later that day, she highlighted her engagement with local emergency services leadership: “Great to meet with leadership from the @OCFireAuthority. I will always fight to support our first responders & ensure our families, homes, & communities are protected from disasters. Grateful for OCFA’s partnership in keeping Orange County safe & ready.”
On March 25, Kim again targeted Governor Newsom’s policies by referencing instances of fraud and waste: “Under Gavin Newsom, California has become the Land of Scams—from $32B in unemployment fraud to SNAP theft, ghost students & Medicaid waste. I’m fighting to stop the fraud, push back on Newsom’s agenda, & bring our Golden State into its Golden Age. Read more in”
Kim succeeded Gil Cisneros as representative for California’s 40th district in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra at age 60, Kim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
