Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, addressed several topics in recent social media posts, ranging from U.S. supply chain security to local community events and historical remembrance.
On November 4, 2025, Kim highlighted concerns over China’s influence on critical minerals. She stated, “China wants to control the critical minerals that power everything from our cell phones to our fighter jets. I spoke with @SpecNews1SoCal about my visit to America’s only critical minerals mine, & how the U.S. can take back our supply chains.” The issue of critical mineral supply has become increasingly prominent as global competition for resources intensifies.
The following day, Kim commemorated a significant event in U.S.-Iran relations. On November 5, 2025, she posted: “OTD in 1979, Iranian militants stormed the U.S. Embassy in Tehran & took 52 Americans hostage for 444 days. Today, we remember these Americans’ courage & resilience & reaffirm our commitment to stand against tyranny wherever freedom is threatened.”
Later that same day, Kim informed constituents about an upcoming passport event in Orange County: “Need a passport? The OC Clerk-Recorder is hosting a one-day passport event on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Veterans Sports Park in Tustin. Make an appointment and stop by!”
Kim has served in Congress since 2021 after previously holding office in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and now residing in La Habra, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
