Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, shared a series of posts on September 8, 2025, highlighting her experiences as an immigrant, her advocacy for patients with cystic fibrosis, and recent legislative efforts focused on tax relief for working families.
In her first post of the day, Kim reflected on her journey to the United States and her role in Congress: “Humbled to gavel in the House floor today.
As someone who came to this country in search of freedom & opportunity, I know the promise of America firsthand. I am honored to serve California’s 40th District in Congress & will keep fighting to protect the American Dream for our https://t.co/MKVwjIaMKx” (September 8, 2025).
Later that afternoon, she marked Cystic Fibrosis Day by expressing support for those affected by the disease: “Almost 40,000 Americans live with Cystic Fibrosis.
On #CysticFibrosisDay, we stand with patients, families & advocates fighting for a brighter future. I will keep doing my part to protect coverage & access to care for our most vulnerable neighbors.” (September 8, 2025).
In a subsequent post that evening, Kim outlined her recent votes in Congress aimed at providing financial relief to Californians: “Working families should be rewarded for their hard work—not the government.
That’s why I voted to deliver:
$16k yearly increase in take-home pay for Californians
No tax on tips
No tax on overtime
4x increase in the SALT deduction” (September 8, 2025).
Kim has represented California’s 40th district since replacing Gil Cisneros in Congress in 2021. Before serving at the federal level, she was a member of the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra at age 60, Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1985.
