Young Kim, a U.S. Congress member representing California’s 40th district, recently shared updates on social media highlighting notable events and accomplishments. Kim, who succeeded Gil Cisneros in 2021, has been active in celebrating the achievements of her constituents.
On June 17, 2025, Young Kim congratulated Orange County School of the Arts junior Eunseo Choi from Tustin for winning the annual CA-40 Congressional Art Competition. Kim praised Choi’s artwork titled “Blossoms of War”, noting its talent and depth in depicting hope amidst adversity. She expressed delight in welcoming Choi and her mother to Washington D.C.
Later that day, Kim posted about meeting CA-40 Congressional Award Gold Medalists during their visit to Washington D.C. She commended these young leaders for their accomplishments in service, fitness, exploration, and personal development. In her post, she stated “Great work, and I know this is just the beginning for each of you!”
In another update on June 17th, Young Kim mentioned greeting the Rodriguez family from Anaheim during their visit to Washington D.C. She invited others visiting from California’s 40th district to reach out by stating “If you’re visiting from CA-40, please don’t hesitate to let us know here.” This gesture underscores her engagement with constituents beyond formal events.
Young Kim has been serving as a representative since 2021 after a previous term in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and residing in La Habra, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.
