Young Kim, a U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district since 2021, marked several legislative and community initiatives in a series of tweets posted on May 19, 2026.
In her first post at 17:00 UTC, Kim highlighted the anniversary of a local financial institution: “Team Young was thrilled to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Farmers & Merchants Bank in Orange County! Community banks are a pillar for local families & small businesses. That’s why I’m proud to support the Main Street Capital Access Act to expand access to local capital.”
Later that day at 19:29 UTC, she commented on political engagement with humor: “The most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m Zohran Mamdani, & I’m here to run your grocery store.'”
At 21:00 UTC, Kim promoted an initiative focused on financial literacy and investment for children: “TRUMP Accounts give every American child: $1,000 invested in the stock market from DAY 1; A real stake in America’s financial future; The lifelong gift of financial literacy. I’m leading the SEEDS Act to make this program permanent and help hardworking Americans build”.
Kim has served as a member of Congress since defeating Gil Cisneros in 2021. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and now residing in La Habra, Kim holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California (1985).
