Young Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 40th district since 2021, recently used her social media platform to highlight legislative efforts related to critical minerals and congressional ethics.
On January 15, 2026, Kim wrote: “Xi Jinping wants to restrict Americans’ access to the most basic building blocks of modern life. Critical minerals power everything from smartphones to fighter jets. We should control them—not China. Proud to lead the DOMINANCE Act to unleash America’s energy future.”
Later that day, she addressed concerns about financial ethics in Congress: “If you use your time in Congress to enrich yourself, you’re the problem. Proud to work with @RepBryanSteil to advance the Stop Insider Trading Act. It’s time to restore integrity & trust to Congress.”
On January 16, 2026, Kim continued her advocacy for domestic investment and international partnerships: “A new era of American prosperity & advancement—fueled by bold domestic investments like this & strong partnerships with trusted allies. I introduced the DOMINANCE Act that rallies like-minded partners to take back minerals supply chains from adversaries, unleash American jobs,”
Kim has served as a representative for California’s 40th District since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously held office in the California State Assembly between 2014 and 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, she earned a BBA from the University of Southern California in 1985.
