Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, has used her social media platform to highlight legislative initiatives and policy concerns in recent days.
On December 16, 2025, Kim stated her support for new legislation addressing congressional ethics: “Our representatives are here to serve YOU, not their wallets. I’m proud to cosponsor the bipartisan Restore Trust in Congress Act, which would ban stock trading for members of Congress & their families. No more insider perks.”
Later that day, she addressed national security and economic independence from foreign suppliers: “America can’t rely on China for the materials we need to defend ourselves. This new U.S.–ROK investment is a huge step towards securing our supply chains, boosting U.S. jobs, and strengthening national security.” The post referenced a partnership between the United States and South Korea aimed at strengthening supply chains and creating domestic jobs.
On December 17, 2025, Kim commented on crime rates in California: “Retail crime is up 48% in CA. Small businesses already run on a tight margin — they shouldn’t have to pay for Sacramento’s negligence. I’m leading a bill to support law enforcement, shut down organized theft rings & crack down on retail crime.”
Kim has served as the representative for California’s 40th district since 2021 after replacing Gil Cisneros. She previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016 and was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 before moving to La Habra. Kim graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1985.
