Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, shared a series of posts on social media between May 18 and May 19, 2026, highlighting both achievements in her community and concerns over government oversight.
On May 18, Kim praised young innovators from Southern California for their participation in a national competition. She wrote, “Always great to meet the talented young innovators defining the next generation of American innovation. Proud to see five Southern California teams compete in the American Rocketry Challenge after advancing to the national finals. Our future is in good hands.” (May 18, 2026).
Later that day, Kim raised alarms about fraudulent activity within hospice care services in California. In her post she stated, “Hospice fraud in CA is alarming: $267 million in Medi-Cal fraud using stolen identities $50+ million in Medicare fraud schemes 89 hospice companies registered at a single LA office building This is government failure on a massive scale. I’m fighting to stop the fraud &” (May 18, 2026).
On May 19, Kim commented on developments regarding healthcare costs under President Biden’s administration. She posted, “Great news for American families. Prescription drug prices are finally coming down under @POTUS. Grateful to work alongside a president laser-focused on lowering costs & making life more affordable for hardworking Americans.” (May 19, 2026).
Kim has represented California’s 40th district since replacing Gil Cisneros in Congress in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, Kim graduated with a BBA from the University of Southern California in 1985.
