Young Kim, a U.S. Congress member representing California’s 40th district, recently shared insights on a legislative bill via social media. Her posts highlight various aspects of the bill and address constituent concerns.
On July 3, 2025, Young Kim emphasized that the bill “INVESTS in America’s FUTURE” by focusing on several key areas: modernizing air traffic control systems to ensure safe air travel, boosting shipbuilding capabilities to support troops and protect national defense, increasing border security resources, and protecting the Pell Grant program. “The bill INVESTS in America’s FUTURE by: modernizing our air traffic control system for SAFE AIR TRAVEL BOOSTING SHIPBUILDING capabilities, SUPPORTING OUR TROOPS, & protecting our national defense increasing border security resources protecting Pell Grant program”
In another post made on the same day, Kim addressed concerns from her constituents regarding public lands. She stated that she fought to ensure that the bill does not affect federal lands, maintaining that public lands will remain under public ownership. “I’ve heard concerns from many of my constituents, especially in the canyon communities, about the sale public lands. I fought hard to ensure this bill does not touch federal lands, ensuring our public lands remain in public hands.”
Additionally, Kim noted that the legislation includes “modest work requirements” for able-bodied adults aged 19-64 without children. These requirements entail working 20 hours per week through employment, schooling or volunteering to contribute to community welfare. “The bill institutes modest work requirements of 20 hours per week of work, school or volunteering for able-bodied adults ages 19-64 without kids. This ensures beneficiaries are contributing to our community.”
Young Kim has been serving in Congress since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016.
