Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, highlighted her recent legislative efforts and local engagements in a series of posts on her official Twitter account between May 28 and May 29, 2026.
On May 28, Kim announced her collaboration with President Biden to expand the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction, stating: “ICYMI: I teamed up with @POTUS to QUADRUPLE the SALT deduction: $10K → $40K Money back in your pocket Making homeownership attainable again Hardworking families in Orange, Riverside, & San Bernadino Counties deserve relief — & we delivered!”
The following day, she discussed a meeting with the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM Bank), writing, “Great to meet with EXIM Bank to discuss how they’re empowering Orange County exporters to succeed in global markets while building stronger local supply chains right here at home. I am committed to working with the Trump administration to champion these efforts that strengthen”.
Later on May 29, Kim addressed state tax policy and affordability issues for Californians: “Californians shouldn’t have to suffer because of Sacramento’s failed policies. I fought tooth & nail to deliver a $40,000 SALT deduction increase so hardworking CA families aren’t taxed to death. I’m laser-focused on making life more affordable for CA families, & I won’t stop”.
Young Kim has represented California’s 40th District in Congress since 2021 after succeeding Gil Cisneros. She previously served in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra, Kim earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1985.
