Young Kim, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 40th district since 2021, has recently addressed several key issues on her official social media account, including financial awareness, small business support, and honoring fallen service members.
On August 25, 2025, Kim commented on financial education efforts in California, stating: “Insightful discussion on the state of financial awareness in California! I’m fighting to create opportunities to save and grow wealth & empower the next generation to make smart financial decisions.”
The following day, she highlighted the importance of small businesses in the state’s economy. In her August 26 post, Kim wrote: “Small businesses account for 99.9% of total business in California. I fought in Congress to preserve the 199A deduction to give small businesses the certainty they need to reinvest, hire, & grow across CA-40, the Golden State, & the nation.”
Later that same day, Kim reflected on the anniversary of a tragic event at Abbey Gate during the Afghanistan withdrawal: “Today, we reflect on August 26, 2021—when we lost 13 brave U.S. service members who gave everything to save the lives of Americans & Afghan allies in a heinous terrorist attack at Abbey Gate. We will never forget our heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice & remain committed to”
Kim has served as U.S. Representative for California’s 40th District since defeating Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously held office in the California State Assembly from 2014 to 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra at age 60, Kim is an alumna of the University of Southern California with a BBA earned in 1985.
