Young Kim, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 40th district, shared her recent initiatives and reflections through a series of tweets on June 6, 2025.
In her first tweet “Washington should make life easier for Americans, not harder.” Young Kim outlined her legislative goals to increase the SALT cap, extend middle-class tax cuts, expand rewards for good financial behavior, help Americans grow their credit, and cap late fees on Medicare enrollment.
Later that day “Today we honor the Allied troops who stormed the beaches of Normandy & embarked on the great crusade for the eyes of the world to protect freedom on #DDay 81 years ago.” Kim commemorated D-Day by paying tribute to the courage and heroism of those involved in this historic event.
In a subsequent post “Scammers exploiting the EBT system are the worst kind of evil…” she expressed her determination to tackle fraud within the EBT system. She announced introducing legislation named SKIM Act alongside Rep. Vince Fong aimed at addressing these issues.
Additional information reveals that Young Kim was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and has been active in politics since replacing Gil Cisneros in Congress in 2021. Before joining Congress, she served in California’s State Assembly from 2014 to 2016 and is an alumna of USC with a degree in Business Administration.
