Young Kim, U.S. Congresswoman representing California’s 40th district, made several statements on her social media account on November 14, 2025, addressing issues ranging from state licensing practices to weather warnings and concerns about U.S.-China relations.
On the morning of November 14, Kim alleged that California Governor Gavin Newsom permitted unauthorized commercial licenses for foreign drivers. She wrote, “Gavin Newsom has allowed 17,000 commercial licenses to be illegally issued to foreign drivers. Newsom’s willful negligence threatens public safety & directly undermines American workers. This ends now.” (November 14, 2025).
Later that day, she issued a weather advisory to residents in several Southern California counties. Her post stated, “Heavy rain is moving through Orange, San Bernardino, & Riverside counties this weekend. Roads will be slick & flood risk is high — please stay safe, everyone!” (November 14, 2025).
In a subsequent message concerning international trade and security issues with China, Kim posted: “We can’t let China turn our own supply chains into shackles. @ChinaSelect just exposed how the CCP engineered its chokehold on critical minerals over decades. It’s long past time for the U.S. to break free.” (November 14, 2025).
Young Kim has served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives since replacing Gil Cisneros in 2021 and previously held office in the California State Assembly between 2014 and 2016. Born in Incheon, South Korea in 1962 and currently residing in La Habra at age 60, she graduated from the University of Southern California with a BBA in 1985.
