ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 9, 2024) -- Scammers are falsely posing as library branches and charging credit cards around the country. The Anaheim Public Library has assured the public by stating, "You can rest assured these fraudulent charges are not from Anaheim Public Library, our branches or the city of Anaheim." Furthermore, they confirmed, "There is no indication that library patrons are impacted."

The fraudulent activities seem to be targeting individuals beyond the local area as the library mentioned, "Scammers are charging credit cards in other states." In response to this, actions have been taken as they reported, "We have reported this fraud to the Federal Trade Commission and Anaheim Police."

For those who may encounter credit card fraud, the Anaheim Public Library provided the following steps to take: "Check your card activity online or through statements," "Notify your bank or card issuer and dispute any unauthorized charges," and "Get guidance from your bank or card issuer on what to do in the event of card fraud."

Emphasizing their commitment to the community's safety, the library stated, "Anaheim Public Library is always working to provide a safe, secure place for our community." For any inquiries or concerns regarding this issue, individuals are encouraged to contact the library at (714) 765-1880.
