Angels Baseball has decided to extend its lease at Angel Stadium of Anaheim until 2032. The team informed the city of Anaheim on Wednesday about their decision to exercise a three-year extension under the terms of the 1996 lease agreement for the city-owned stadium.
Mayor Ashleigh Aitken expressed her support, stating, “As a lifelong Angels fan, I join those in our city and across our region in welcoming baseball in Anaheim into the next decade. This lease extension brings added certainty and ensures the strong tradition of baseball in Anaheim. As mayor, I look forward to working with the Angels on future community partnerships, and, as a fan, look forward to a great season ahead.”
The current extension is not part of any long-term negotiations between the team and the city, nor are there any ongoing discussions about further leases. The extension is one of three available under the current lease agreement that extends through 2029 or potentially until 2038 if all options are exercised.
The Angels must notify the city at least 12 months before December 31, 2029, or earlier if they wish to exercise further extensions. The next potential extension would require notification by December 31, 2031.
Under this extended lease agreement through 2032, revenue sharing terms remain unchanged: $2 per ticket sold beyond 2.6 million tickets annually goes to the city; parking revenue sharing includes 25 percent beyond $8.2 million during baseball seasons; and other events like Supercross and Monster Jam contribute 25 percent beyond $4.1 million.
Angel Stadium has been home to Angels Baseball since its opening in 1966 with Walt Disney Co., then owners of the team signing onto this enduring partnership back in 1996.
